Class Attendance and Community Agreement

Class Attendance:

  • This course will be a 99%  in-person class.

  • Attendance is important(25 points) in this class, as the course is highly interactive and nearly every class involves group work and other participation.

  • Each student is expected to actively engage in class on all scheduled days, as your participation is necessary for the success of your classmates.

  • Non-attendance or not participating will cost you a grade in the attendance portion of the course.

  • Excused Absences: Absences due to illness, personal emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances will be considered excused. Please inform me in advance or as soon as possible if you will be absent. A doctor’s note or supporting documentation may be required.

  • Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences may affect your grade, particularly if they result in missed project work or in-class activities. For each unexcused absence, 10 point will be deducted from your final grade.

  • More than Two Absences: If you miss more than two classes, please consult with me to discuss how to make up missed work and stay on track in the course.


Community Agreement:

  • It is my job as an educator to make this classroom a safe one for its members.

  • I expect that everyone treats their peers with kindness and respect in this classroom.

  • We will discuss different perspectives. You may not always agree with a perspective, but try to be respectful of other values, beliefs, and identities.

  • Repeated inappropriate or abusive comments and/or behavior will not be tolerated and will be reported to the Director of Cinematography Department

  • If you feel I'm brushing off your views or if there's some other reason you are uncomfortable in the classroom, please reach out to me right away.

  • Due to the nature of production involvement in this class, all schedules listed here are subject to change.
