Project 1:  
Music Video
20 Points
Description:
  1. Create a short AI music video that showcases students' ability to interpret music visually and establish a unique style.
  2. Working in groups of (2-3), students will conceptualize and produce a music video based on a chosen song, focusing on narrative, aesthetics, and style alignment. Emphasis will be on capturing the essence of the music.
  3. Outcome: A completed music video that demonstrates understanding of music video structure, mood, and audience engagement.

Format:

Mp4 or MOV, > 1920*1080, H.264

Project 2:
Pitch Deck
(15 Points )
Description: 

Outcome: A cohesive pitch presentation that demonstrates skills in concept development, visual planning, and role-specific pre-production work, ready for class critique and discussion.

  1. Working in groups of 2-3, students will create a proposal for a commercial video, presented as a 20-30page Keynote deck.
    The proposal should include the concept, target audience, style, and preliminary visual approach.
  2. Each student will develop a presentation aligned with their assigned role. (For instance, Directors will create a storyboard that outlines the video’s narrative structure, while Cinematographers will produce a lookbook to define the visual style and color palette.)
  3. Each presentation will consist of at least 20 pages to ensure thorough preparation and detail.

Project 3:
Lighting Plan
(5 Points )
Description:


Each student create a comprehensive lighting plan that showcases technical expertise in lighting design, with a focus on creativity and crafting a compelling visual atmosphere around a subject or human face. This plan will serve as a foundational guide for our upcoming studio sessions

Project 4:  Production Plan
( 5 Points )
Description:

  1. Prepare a full production plan that organizes all pre-production elements needed for a successful shoot.
  2. Students will compile resources, create a timeline, assign roles, and outline the budget, logistics, and location needs for their project.
  3. This plan is intended to guide student’s project through production.

Project 5:  Final Film
(25 Points)
Description:

  1. Rough Cut (Submission 1): Students will produce an initial version of their video, including basic edits, transitions, and preliminary color grading. This rough cut will be reviewed by peers and instructors, providing an opportunity for constructive critique to improve storytelling or visual cohesion.
  2. Final Cut (Submission 2): Using feedback from the rough cut, students will complete a polished version of the video.  This stage will involve advanced editing and sound design to meet client-ready standards, with a focus on technical precision and visual impact.

Project 6:  
Final Project
Reflection Report
(5 Points )
Description:
For this final project, students will craft a written report (500-800 words) reflecting on their creative and technical journey throughout the course. The report should provide an in-depth analysis of their projects, connecting their practical experiences with the media theories discussed in class  
  • Reflective Analysis: Critically analyze the creative decisions and outcomes of their projects.
  • Integration of  Theory: Discuss how media theory informed their creative process and decision-making.
  • Artistic Growth: Reflect on personal growth, challenges faced, and how feedback and collaboration shaped their work.
  • Future Applications: Explore how the skills and insights gained from the course will inform future creative endeavors.

Format:

Length: 500-800 words.
